guidelines

As a general rule, it is advisable to wash hands under running water immediately after use of any latex gloves.

Depending upon the severity of allergy, you are advised to initially switch to powder-free gloves with low extractable protein levels, monitor symptoms and observe. If this is not effective, try polymer gloves (powder-free, unchlorinated, low extractable protein levels and no contact with latex. Full details available through your usual distributor). If this is still not effective, use of a non-latex glove between skin and latex or polymer glove is recommended. A thorough understanding of personal allergic history is important in order to manage this risk.

However, such techniques may still prove inadequate for a small minority of individuals who are highly sensitised. In such cases, refer to your medical advisor or for more information, refer to document MDA DB 9601- April 1996 available from Medical Devises Agency in the UK.
